Winter Skin Essentials (All Clean Beauty Products)

by - December 30, 2018

When you read this, it's probably close to Christmas so Merry Christmas to you and your family and I hope the year ahead brings you so much joy and prosperity!

For today's blog post, I wanted to venture out into some new territory I've never done on this blog before. Clean beauty.

I've been meaning to do a dedicated Clean Beauty post for a while, ever since I discovered the whole food diary's Instagram and blog. Kezia has been a major inspiration for me transitioning to using more clean beauty products. I've also read more about what chemicals go into many of our beauty products and was shocked by some of the harmful ingredients that are allowed into things that we put on our face! Did you know that the FDA allows many ingredients that have been linked to causing cancer in many of the beauty and household products we use! Whatever we put on our face is absorbed into the skin so if a product contains carcinogenic chemicals, that is LITERALLY absorbing into our bodies.

Look, I'm no expert on this topic, but I do plan to try adding more clean beauty to my blog in the future and will do all I can to research more about this topic. This whole topic can be completely overwhelming to research when you first dive into it but resources like the whole food diary really help with that! One thing that for sure has helped me is the product ratings list from the EWG (environmental working group) website. This is a useful tool for finding what products are harmful in your everyday products and takes the guesswork out of those fancy smancy ingredients listed on the back of most products. Check them out here for more info.

Anyway, the beauty products I'm talking about in today's post are either 100% pure organic USDA certified or have a low rating (which is a good thing) on the environmental working group list.

US Organics Jojoba Oil (USDA certified)

I've been using this face oil for quite a few years and it still remains to be a staple in my skincare routine. I won't go into too much detail because I've already discussed this in a previous blog post here

Weleda Birch Cellulite Oil

I came across this oil the other day when I was researching cleaner alternatives to my long loved Bio Oil that surprisingly has a lot of harmful chemicals in it. Enter Weleda skin products. They have a low-level rating on the EWG website and it actually works! I would even venture to say that it's better than Bio-oil. It also has a really pleasant citrusy scent. Since I fell in love with this product, I probably will be ordering more products from them in the future!

Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm w/ Vitamin E & Peppermint

Ashamedly, it took me way too long to discover the transcending power of Burt's Bees lip balm.  Ok, maybe that was a tad bit dramatic, but I truly love this lip balm. It's the first lip balm that makes my lips feel ACTUALLY moisturized. Groundbreaking, I know! It also doesn't hurt that the scent and taste of the peppermint are so nice! Although, if you don't like peppermint, you might not like this 😬.
